About

The Faculty of Safety Engineering (FSE) at VSB-Technical University of Ostrava is a leading Czech Republic faculty providing engineering research in fire protection, industrial safety, and civil protection. FSE's Department of Civil Protection primarily focuses on crisis management phases of prevention, preparedness, and response. They also develop the resilience of critical infrastructure and society through simulation technologies. FSE is leading in risk management within the Czech Republic, using standard tools as well as the latest technologies such as Risk Mapping tools (GIS), AI, extended virtual reality (XVR), and more.

Role

As partner in NATURE-DEMO, VSB brings extensive experience in creating the catalogue of suitable NbS for climate resilient infrastructure, define NbS critical infrastructure and cooperate in whole WP1. In WP2 we will contribute on risk reduction quantitative analysis and characterization of hazard, exposure and vulnerability related to climate. In WP3 and WP4 we will devise living lab, deploy and demonstrate the NbS from the WP1 and of course the monitoring and evaluation will follow. VSB collaborates in long-term with local authorities and it will be included in WP5 on replicator. Finally we are going to significantly contribute to the WP6.
