About

Propark is located in the City of Brașov, in the center of Romania.

We are committed to providing life-long learning and training opportunities for protected area practitioners and conservationists and to supporting them to better conserve nature for the benefit of society. This is our Mission..

In the 14 years of its existence, the dedicated, passionate and professional people working for and with Propark have gathered a wealth of experience by developing training programmes and tools and by implementing projects in support of protected area management teams. At the same time, our work contributes continuously to better connect stakeholders with the protected areas management teams, through best practices and model approaches projects.

Propark improves urban green spaces with nature-based solutions for healthier and more livable cities. Our expertise in Protected Area management and nature conservation allows us to provide expert advice for design and implementation. We have extensive experience in capacity building, public awareness and participatory planning and management.

Role

PPK's main role as partner in NATURE-DEMO will be “Prototyping and demonstration”.

  • Main Responsibilities: PPK will provide solutions to improve green infrastructure in cities by using elements provided by the surrounding nature.
  • Key Activities: Stakeholder mapping and Prototyping and demonstration in Brasov City green spaces.
  • Expertise and Resources: PPK developed an online tool for inventorying urban green spaces, focusing on species composition and presence of invasive and exotic species. The tool will be used for assessing existing green spaces and start the analysis for natural solutions - starting point for the online platform. We have the  capacity to re-design green spaces and offer nature-based solutions for the test (and replication) areas and experience in improving/developing or maintaining green spaces, aligned with the NBS concept.
  • Expected Contributions: PPK will contribute significantly to WP1. Nature-based solutions for climate-resilient infrastructure, WP3. Devise Living Labs and prepare the nature-based solutions, and WP6. Outreach, Communication, Dissemination, and Exploitation and have input on other WP.
  • Collaboration with Partners: PPK will collaborate with all the partners in the project by exchanging information and working together and participating in all meetings.
