As part of the NATURE-DEMO project, Dr. Kaloop, DIC, presented our work at Huddersfield University, focusing on the implementation of nature-based solutions (NbS) for infrastructure resilience. During the presentation, he discussed the principles of NbS and their role in mitigating climate-related risks while enhancing the sustainability and adaptability of civil infrastructure.
A key component of the session was the introduction of the project’s catalogue for designing NbS for infrastructure resilience and how this can be implemented as a digital system. This catalogue provides practical guidelines, examples, and criteria for selecting and implementing NbS strategies across different infrastructure types. Attendees engaged in discussions on the applicability of NbS in local contexts, design considerations, and the potential benefits for urban and rural infrastructure systems.
This dissemination activity facilitated knowledge exchange with academics and professionals, promoted awareness of innovative resilience strategies, and encouraged the adoption of nature-based approaches in infrastructure planning and design.

NATURE-DEMO Newsletter no. 8
Our May 2026 newsletter is packed with updates on our efforts to advance nature-based solutions (NbS) for critical infrastructure. As the NATURE-DEMO project reaches its two-year milestone, we reflect on a period of intense collaboration and scientific innovation. With the successful completion of the first three Work Packages (WPs) on April 30th, the project has transitioned from a phase of digital and conceptual framework development into the real-world deployment phase.
