The Nature-Demo project workshops took place at the Institute of Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Seismology (IZIIS) in Skopje, North Macedonia, bringing together researchers, and master's students in their first and second years of study. The primary objective of the workshops was to present and discuss key aspects of the project, with a strong focus on Nature-Based Solutions (NbS) and their application in sustainable development and disaster risk reduction. Through a series of presentations and interactive discussions, participants explored innovative strategies for integrating NbS into urban planning, environmental protection, and seismic resilience. These workshops facilitated knowledge exchange between experts and students, encouraging critical thinking and active engagement in addressing contemporary environmental and infrastructural challenges.
The workshops outcomes included a deeper understanding of NbS applications within the Nature-Demo project, enhanced collaboration between academia and industry professionals, and valuable insights for further research and implementation in North Macedonia. By promoting sustainable and nature-driven approaches, the workshops has the potential to improve the country’s resilience to natural hazards, enhance urban sustainability, and contribute to long-term environmental protection. The discussions held at IZIIS emphasized the importance of integrating NbS into national policies and urban planning strategies, highlighting how such initiatives can lead to a more resilient and adaptive future for North Macedonia
